Alexander, Cecil Frances
(?1818–95)
   Poet and Educator.
   Alexander was a native of Dublin, Ireland and was the wife of William Alexander, who became Archbishop of Armagh. She dedicated her life to helping her husband in his pastoral work. She was the author of many children’s hymns including ‘All things bright and beautiful’, ‘Once in Royal David’s city’, sung at Christmas, and the Good Friday hymn ‘There is a green hill far away’.
